Attention. Direction. Destination.

“Every path has a destination. Direction, not intention, determines destination. What captures our attention, influences our direction. Attention, direction, destination…that’s the principle of the path in three words…”

Mission Statement

You Can’t Control a Disaster, but You Can Have a Controlled Response…

The mission of the OSVPM is to offer the commercial claim manager and adjuster a better measure of control, continuity and cost effectiveness in the event of a catastrophic commercial property loss. OSVPM is committed to bringing an uncommon level of expertise concerning loss mitigation, swift response and cost effective solutions to the complex problems faced following a disaster.

Damage Assessments

Among the services OSVPM provides, one of the most important in the early stage of loss recovery, are damage assessments. Damage assessment services are ideally performed during the initial inspection of the loss site in the company of both the policy holder and the claims representative in an effort to reach an early agreement as to what is restorable versus non-restorable.

Scope of Work

The definition of the Scope of Work, in most cases, sets the tone of the overall recovery operation. There are two elements to this definition. The first is segregation of those services that mitigate or suspend the damages followed by the second element, which comprehensively defines the full scope of damage, the proper remediation protocols and the timeline or critical path required to cost effectively overcome the damages.

Project Management

Successful time and cost conclusions are the goal of OSVPM. For the truly end to end results required for effective claim management, OSVPM provides all the start to finish services necessary to eliminate the problems historically experienced during this phase of recovery operations. OSVPM has available a team of highly competent project managers, clerks and field auditors who possess a unique ability to manage the agreed upon work to its successful time and cost conclusion.

Reporting

Comprehensive reporting has always been the cornerstone to the reasonable justification of expenses as noted in the claim file. Activities, conclusions and recommendations of the representatives of OSVPM, through detailed reports, serve to document the complete progression of events surrounding the circumstances of our involvement in every commercial loss situation.

Scope & Cost Analysis/Auditing

In many cases, the involvement of OSVPM becomes necessary after the work is commenced and ‘in process’. In these cases, we are typically assigned to review the scope of work and analyze the relationship of cost to the requirements. Once the scope of work and timelines are understood, cost elements such as rates charged for labor, equipment and materials are reviewed in comparison to industry standards. Additionally, and most importantly, analysis is provided that addresses labor loading (supervisor to labor ratios, management allocations and contractor admin) as well as the proper usage of equipment and material consumption. The goal is to quantify and minimize excessive use of these elements as they compare to both industry standard practice and the project requirements based on the agreed scope of work. Audit services, either real-time or post recovery, can be initiated that validate invoicing submitted as it compares to the supporting documentation as well as the proper application of costs in comparison to normal and customary practice.

Decades of experience as a specialty consultant charged with scope, cost and time over-sight.
